Whelton Hiutin LLP Hiring for Legal Assistant Position

We are actively seeking a bright and hardworking legal assistant with excellent attention to detail to join our team on a full time basis. You would have at least four (4) years of experience in civil litigation. The successful individual enjoys working in a collaborative environment and possesses the ability to handle competing tasks through effective prioritization and multi-tasking.

Primary responsibilities for this full time role may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and revise legal documents and correspondence, transcribe dictation
  • Answer all incoming calls, answer client inquiries
  • Assist with preparation of court documents for trials and hearings, including actions, applications, motion records, factums, request to admit, etc.
  • Assist with docketing, billing, invoices and the preparation and submission of invoices
  • Open, close and maintain files with the utmost discretion and according to appropriate guidelines
  • Provide administrative support to Partner, including calendar management, travel coordination and professional tasks
  • All meeting planning and coordination, scheduling meeting rooms, arranging for audio-visual needs, catering, materials, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years + of experience within a legal environment in a similar role
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, PCLaw, Adobe, ACL or other document management system
  • Exceptional strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intuitive, able to anticipate needs/requirements and act to fulfill them
  • Polished, professional, maintains confidentiality at all times
  • A keen eye for detail, excellent proofreading skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

Job details:

  • Full-time, Permanent position
  • Monday to Friday schedule
  • Downtown office location (walking distance of Go train and TTC)
